It’s always delightfully ironic to discover you’ve been paying for something you should be getting for free. Sadly, I’m not talking about free Health Care for you and your family. I’m sorry to say you and your loved ones are second in line to your PC. That’s right, I’m talking about free anti-virus for your computer. Hey, its 2008, we have to start somewhere.

If you’re forking out cash for anti-virus protection, it doesn’t mean you’re getting a higher quality product, it just means you were duped.

ALWIL software, the producer of Avast, is now offering Avast Anti-Virus software free of charge to home users. Avast is a complete antivirus solution that includes Anti-Spyware protection, and Anti-Rootkit Detection for no additional cost. AVG, is also available free of charge to home users. It provides quick virus database updates for the lifetime of the product. AVG is easy to use, and the manufacturer claims it will not slow down your system. Product includes the AVG Resident Shield, which provides protection while programs are running.
